The Schwinn Scramblers were the only bike we could afford at the time. They were heavy duty steel and their frames were indestructible and their parts were easy to get at local bike stores. The problem was not the frame but the other parts that bent or broke all the time. The one piece cranks would bend at the spindle, the single clamp Schwinn stems would always slip at the impact of a jump landing and the handle bars would lock in the forward “Low-rider” position, the steel rims would bend like crazy
