German Open: Berlin’s Tobi Wicke becomes German Champion, in spite of an injury

An exciting battle between the international contestants took place at the German Open Miniramp Contest presented by T-Mobile Local Support last weekend. On a sunny afternoon every single rider showed up with his complete repertoire, so the overall 3000 spectators got to see an amazing show and probably the last one at Berlin’s Mellowpark. In the pro-final, local hero Tobi Wicke made it up on first with presenting his unique front-wheel lip tricks and a perfect flip whip over the spine to the judges. He also sticked an upside down icepick and tried a 360 double whip, but unfortunately he broke his anklebone at the try. However his first runs were good enough to let him hobble on the podium. Only a 1-point difference separated Oldenburg’s Sergej Geier from Tobi and the first place. Technically perfect as always, Sergej pulled a clean 360 tailtap to barspin over the spine and a barspin to icepick. Third place went to Markus “Monkey” Braumann, also Berlin Local.

All the named riders have already been invited to the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds at the 24th of August in Hamburg. For this reason, the following placed riders Sven „Sprosse“ Lehmann, Mark König and Kevin Liehn are now qualified for the high-class event. At the amateur-ranking, there was no doubt about the 19 years old Christian Anton from Strausberg deserving the T-Mobile Wildcard with performing a disaster to 540 tailtap at the subbox. He is number four, who is going to compete with the international elite in Hamburg.
