Recap of Simple Session 2024 – another one in the books!

The BMX top three were decided during the qualification rounds, where Garrett Reynolds secured a significant lead, advancing to the finals earning a high score of 92 points there. Reynolds was also awarded the SUBROSA best street trick prize for his 540 bar fakie. Joji Mizogaki from Japan and Matt Ray from the United States battled for second and third places. 18-year-old Joji impressed the crowd with a 360 quad barspin, earning 87.50 points and Matt Ray fought his way to third place after an incomplete first run, scoring 86.83 points in his strong second run. The SUBROSA best park trick award went to Greek rider George Ntavoutian, who flew across the park with a tailwhip. The LHV best Estonian and BALCIA best Baltic rider was Tauno Krüüts who placed 23rd in the qualifiers with 57.66 points.

We also had an absolutely epic Visit Estonia X Simple Session Ramp Jam where a spectacular free spirited jam took place on a ramp built on the river barge, during which some skaters and BMX riders landed their jumps directly into the Emajõgi River. The title of the best MVP award went to was 22-year-old Brazilian Pedro Quintas, who placed 8th in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 in men’s park competition.

The global crew of riders also rolled into Tartu’s fresh concrete skatepark in Tähtvere, where skaters and BMX riders threw down in epic riding in best trick jams. in Skateboardig, Spanish shredder Jamie Mateu was announced as the gnarliest in bowl, while Argentina’s Matias Dell Olio snagged the street special award after having just finished in the top 8 at the Paris Olympics. In BMX, Aussie Alex Hiam owned the park, and British Joe Jarvis took the street MVP win. Alex Hiam experienced a heavy slam in Saturday’s BMX qualifications, but luckily he is doing alright by now and is on his way back to Australia. We are wishing him a smooth and speedy recovery on his way to full health.

We also had a Stoned Street x Simple Session real street BMX jam in cool Tartu spots and a Stoned Street movie ‘MYSÖ’ premiere. And last but not least – what is Simple Session without parties! Simple Session side events were awesome this year.
