Dirt prelims on Friday were plagued with heat and humidity. Tonight, however, mother nature threw us a bone, kicked in a cold front and dropped the temperature down to 62 degrees. Fall has finally hit Florida—a perfect atmosphere for Dew Tour Dirt Finals and the fight for the overall Dew Cup. What a Finals it was – every past winner of the Dew Cup was in tonight's event (
Guettler, Napolitan, Nyquist, and
White), and the field of twelve put on a great show for the Orlando crowd. And the overall winner is…
Ryan Nyquist. The pressure was eased up a little bit for this Dew Tour veteran (and living BMX legend) considering that as long as he didn't dip below sixth place in tonight’s event, he would be leaving Orlando with a Dew Cup. Ending up in fifth tonight did the trick, and Nyquist won another Dew Cup to go with the one he took home in 2007.
Tonight’s Finals hosted a pretty interesting chain of events. Firstly,
Brandon Dosch kept bouncing back and forth in the top two slots. With ridiculously consistent runs, he held things together with

incredible tail whip and 360 variations. Interestingly enough, his third and final run availed the highest score of the night at 92.87—straight triple whip over the hip, 360 over the second, downside whip 360 over the third, and 360 double whip over the last jump–flawless. It’s not surprising that this run put him on top of the podium this evening and placed him second in overall standings.
TJ Ellis was definitely tonight’s underdog. After his first two runs kept him floating around tenth place, his third and final run bumped him all the way to the top: no handed flip over the hip, shooting him into a front flip over the second, followed by a double whip on the third. Ellis cinched his run with a 360 double whip over the last jump. He got a well-deserved second place in tonight’s event, which ranks him third overall.

And that leaves us with
Rob Darden. After killing it in Park prelims just hours before dirt finals, Darden (without one flip variation) was sitting pretty in third. His second run scored a 92.5 and began with a huge 720 over the hip leading into a bar to cranked turndown on the second. Darden finished his highest-scored run with a 360 whip over the third and a truck to do

uble bar over the fourth. He got third place tonight, his highest Dirt finish at Dew Tour, and fifth in the overall tour standings.
Thanks to an extremely large crowd turnout for support. Thanks to mother nature for easing up on the rain and delivering us to Fall. And most importantly, thanks to the riders for shredding the gnar.
