incredible tail whip and 360 variations. Interestingly enough, his third and final run availed the highest score of the night at 92.87—straight triple whip over the hip, 360 over the second, downside whip 360 over the third, and 360 double whip over the last jump–flawless. It’s not surprising that this run put him on top of the podium this evening and placed him second in overall standings.
TJ Ellis was definitely tonight’s underdog. After his first two runs kept him floating around tenth place, his third and final run bumped him all the way to the top: no handed flip over the hip, shooting him into a front flip over the second, followed by a double whip on the third. Ellis cinched his run with a 360 double whip over the last jump. He got a well-deserved second place in tonight’s event, which ranks him third overall.
And that leaves us with Rob Darden. After killing it in Park prelims just hours before dirt finals, Darden (without one flip variation) was sitting pretty in third. His second run scored a 92.5 and began with a huge 720 over the hip leading into a bar to cranked turndown on the second. Darden finished his highest-scored run with a 360 whip over the third and a truck to double bar over the fourth. He got third place tonight, his highest Dirt finish at Dew Tour, and fifth in the overall tour standings.
Thanks to an extremely large crowd turnout for support. Thanks to mother nature for easing up on the rain and delivering us to Fall. And most importantly, thanks to the riders for shredding the gnar.
