Mark Koenig injured in Urk. Out for 12 weeks! An update.

Mark, the picture you sent didn't look too good, what happened?
Mark: we rode a miniramp demo in Urk for Sony. I did a flair and I have to put my foot to the ramp while landing because it was not so clean. That was for sure not the right decision.

How did the Dutch people treat you in the hospital?
Mark: Oh that was very good! They were very friendly.

When you do shows, you normally do not give 101% and do the tricks you know you can do. What went wrong on the flair?
Mark: I don't know! I've been riding bmx for 17 years now and know how to bail and crash but sometimes you make wrong decisons. That was one of these wrong ones.

Who were at the show with you?
Mark: Benny Kopp, Monkey and his girlfriend, and Björn a skateboarder from Bielefeld.

Is your car still parked in Urk?
Mark: Yes my car is still there but the ADAC will pick it up in the next days to bring it to my hometown.

You're in the hospital until Christmas. Who have come to visit you already?
Mark: Till now just my girlfriend and an other friend of mine. I'm waiting for more visitors to bring me some sweets!

Are you bored yet?
Mark: Ah it's ok for now but I got 9 more days to go and another surgery tomorow.

You mentioned you will be out for a few months. No Estonia for you then this year?
Mark: No Estonia for me. I think I'm ready to ride again in 12 weeks from now.

Other than the Simpel Session in Estonia, the contest season is pretty slow at the moment. Do you feel "lucky" it happened now and not in May?
Mark: When I have to chose a time for an injury then this time would be the best.

Could you force to be ready sooner, or do you just have to wait and let it heal properly?
Mark: For sure I'll wait and have a good healing! I've got no pressure.

You will be spending some time on the couch, do you have any activities planned?
Mark: Oh I got a girlfriend and a dog and I've startet to play drums again. I will work on my own ramp building and show riding business.

Do you have anybody you would like to thank?
Mark: Yes for sure Monkey and Domi for staying with me at the hospital and bringing me back to Germany. My girlfriend for everything and Steffen for picking me up in Germany. FATBMX for the interview and everbody who's writing and calling me!
