actually had the same tricks to get the crowd going (fuck George W. Bush - flipping him off) but it worked. It was a wild scene with a great vibe. The block flute song is another favorite among the crowd. Now let me explain the wooden flute situation. There's a girl in the band who plays the violin and a, well... block flute. I actually didn't know the English translation of the Blokfluit" and started a little investigation. Some Belgian people from Turnhout weren't sure. The guy that was with them said it wasn't a "Blokfluit" but a "Thin Whistle", whatever that is. Not satisfied I searched some more. The Heineken's were helping me out at this point. I had not 
much luck until I ran into some students. The first guy up told me that a "Block flute" is a "Recorder". Yeah right, that didn't sound correct. He asked the next guy and he said the same thing. What?! Recorder? I didn't know if I was being fooled or not. But the concert went on and was rocking. Dennis returned from the "FATBMX photoshoot" up front to kill another brewski. Last band on was Millencolin from Sweden. 
They've got some songs playing on Studio Brussels (my favorite radio station) and they played well. It was obvious though that they weren't able to get the crowd going the same as Flogging Molly did. This caused a bit of an anti climax on the otherwise great night. Stubborn as always I went straight to the dictionary when I arrived at home to look up the English translation of the word Blokfluit. It is "recorder" indeed.
