The Tour also increased the size of the Freestyle Motocross, BMX Park, BMX Dirt and Skateboard Park courses so athletes can perform bigger and better tricks.
The last stop of the Tour, the Toyota Challenge in San Jose, Calif., saw intense competition. Some highlights are below:
· 19 year old Scotty Cranmer of Jackson, NJ, reclaimed the overall lead in BMX Park following his second victory of the season at the Toyota Challenge. Ryan Nyquist, 27, of Los Gatos, Calif., placed second and Daniel Dhers, 21, of Venezuela remains close in points standings by placing third at the Toyota Challenge.
· 2005 dual Dew Cup winner, Ryan Guettler, 22, of Australia, won the BMX Dirt event and currently sits in fifth place overall in the season standings. Luke Parslow, 21, of Riverside, Calif., leads the season standings heading into the PlayStation® Pro with 288 points. He is trailed closely by Anthony Napolitan, 20, of Youngstown, OH, with 276 and Ryan Nyquist with 222 points.
· Jamie Bestwick, 35, of Great Britain, continues to dominate BMX Vert competition. He expanded his points lead with another win at the Toyota Challenge and is the frontrunner for Athlete of the Year honors with 375 total points. Placing second and currently in second place overall is Chad Kagy, 27, of Gilroy, Calif., with 280 points. Simon Tabron, 32, of Great Britain, placed third at the Toyota Challenge and is fourth in the overall standings, trailing Kevin Robinson, 34, of Providence, RI in third place with 244.
Fans can explore the Dew Action Sports Tour’s Festival Village every day of the event, which includes athlete autograph sessions, video gaming and interactive courses. The Verizon Wireless music stage will feature Ludacris on Friday, October 13 at 9:00 p.m. Admission to all competitions, the Festival Village, and the Friday night concert featuring Ludacris is included in the ticket price to the Dew Action Sports Tour’s PlayStation® Pro.
Friday through Sunday, daily adult and children tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. Tickets to the PlayStation® Pro on Thursday, October 12 are $6 in advance or $8 the day of. A four-day pass to the PlayStation® Pro is $30 for adults and kids. Tickets available at all Ticketmaster Outlets, ticketmaster.com, charge by phone, and at the TD Waterhouse Centre Box Office. NBC will air the PlayStation® Pro on October 14 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. EDT and October 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. EDT. USA Network’s telecasts are from Midnight-1:00 a.m. on October 13 and Midnight-1:00 a.m. on October 14. A 2006 season highlight show will air on NBC on from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. on November 26. Each Dew Cup winner received a portion of the $1 million year-end bonus and is competing this season.
