Returning to San Francisco for the second consecutive year, The Dew Tour Toyota City Championships celebrates the action sports lifestyle, incorporating cultural events throughout the weekend. Tickets are on sale now for a music performance by hip-hop artist, Common, rounding out a day of athletic competitions. Also adding to the entertainment and excitement of the weekend is the year’s second installment of Dew Tour Recognize, a photo exhibit showcasing inspirational skate photography from well-known industry photographers.
With more than eight recorded studio albums, a successful television series and more, Common takes the stage, with a special guest, in San Francisco on Saturday, October 12. Fans 18 and over are invited to head to the Regency Ballroom (1290 Sutter St.) from 9-11p.m., with doors opening at 8:30p.m., to listen to one of hip-hop’s best lyricists. Known for having one of the most innovative and positive voices among the hip-hop community, Common has earned two Grammy awards and has captivated audiences for more than two decades. On Friday, October 11, Dew Tour Recognize will celebrate San Francisco’s rich skate and BMX history. From 8- 11p.m. at Book & Job Gallery (838 Geary St), Dew Tour will host a gallery of San Francisco photography, featuring influential skate and BMX photographers such as Bryce Kanights, Gabe Morford, Joe Brook, Luke Ogden, Mike Blabac, Kyle Camarillo, Chris Ortiz, Jeff Landi, Tobin Yelland, Dave Chami, Rob Dolecki and Jeff Zielinski. The event is free and open to the public. Book & Job will also be open to the public from 11a.m. to 6p.m. Friday through Sunday with the Recognize: Photo gallery on display.
These events round out three days of free skate, BMX and FMX competitions featuring the world’s top action sports athletes. The family-friendly Dew Tour Experience will also be open throughout the weekend for fans to interact with Dew Tour partners, meet athletes, skate, ride the Dew Tour fan courses and more.
