CPR was administered and within a minute he responded. He was then rushed to the nearest hospital. There he was checked over and eventually it was decided to return him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit. Not only was this traumatic for Melissa, who was travelling in the Ambulance with him but also for the rest of us back at Shock Trauma. By the time of Stephen return, his condition was the same as when he left and he was again asking for ice cream! The hospital are investigating what could have caused this incident and the general feeling is that it was more likely to have been a problem with the ventilator rather than a problem with Stephen.

It has now been decided to have a transition period where Stephen will slowly get used to the type of ventilator required for travel. This should lessen any worries that a similar incident may occur. It now appears that Stephen will transfer to Denver at some point next week. Today, Stephen had another challenge as the Hospital tested to see whether he was ready to swallow. The first test was to see whether he physically could, which he passed but it was decided to not give him food until a more comprehensive test has taken place. This will be conducted on Monday.

To say the last three weeks have been a rollercoaster ride would be an understatement but there are no words to describe the highs and lows of the last 24 hours. For those of you out there who are willing Stephen to come through this, keep it up because even when it looks like everything is improving, there are still unforseen bumps in the road.

The AST Dew Tour and the action sports industry and athletes are coming together to help raise awareness and funds for the Stephen Murray Recovery Fund for injured BMX athlete 

Stephen Murray, who suffered a severe injury while competing at the Panasonic Open event on June 22.  AST Drops In, the AST Dew Tour’s national charity, will hold an online auction with all proceeds benefiting the Stephen Murray Recovery Fund.

The Dew Tour, Camp Woodward, ESPN X Games, countless action sports athletes, and many other companies from the action sports industry, are all participating in the online auction in an effort to raise funds for the Stephen Murray Recovery Fund.

Beginning Thursday, July 19, AST Drops In will host an online auction on CharityFolks.com, a leading online marketplace for nonprofit fundraising, featuring Dew Tour athlete memorabilia.   The auction will culminate on Friday, August 10 with all proceeds benefiting the Stephen Murray Recovery Fund.  Fans can log on to www.charityfolks.com/astdropsin to bid on rare action sports memorabilia and experiential items.

 August 10 NEW YORK - July 16, 2007 - The Dew Tour, its media partners, and sponsors will use on-air, online, and on-site channels to promote the auction during the Right Guard Open event in Cleveland, Ohio, July 19-22.
