Some background info on the Mongoose pro riders who signed the bike:
When Simon Tabron was a little boy he dreamed of becoming a professional stuntman. So for his ninth birthday, Tabron got his first bike and started riding. Twenty-two years later who would have guessed this childhood 'hobby' would soon turn into a championship BMX career. Tabron turned pro in 1990 rocking an 'English' style on the Vert ramp. Known for his spinning tricks, Tabron's unique riding style has proven to be a huge success. With the title of Vert World Champion for three consecutive years, plus a Gravity Gold and an X Games Silver under his belt, Simon is knocking goal after goal off of his list. So what's he got left? Only simple things like climbing Mount Everest, living to 100 years old, and learning how to stand on his head.
His passion for traveling, meeting new people, and learning new tricks has kept Simon on his bike.
Cameron White may be young, but he's no red-shirt rookie: the kid can ride. Cameron is from Australia, riding for Travis Chipres, AKA Bart Taylor and the Mongoose/Hyundai Team. He's one of the hottest riders in BMX today. A long way from his hometown of Canberra, Australia, he decided to bring his talents to the States to compete against the world's best. Cameron is relatively new to the USA and the pro jumping contests here, but if you watch him ride, you'll think he's been here for years.
Cam's accomplishments include 7th place in three 2004 Van's Triple Crowns, 6th in all Core Tour Comps in 2004, 4th place overall at the King of Dirt Pro Series Championship, and a Silver medal at the Australian Planet X Dirty Deeds Comp 2004. Never one to shy away from stepping up his game and his arsenal of tricks, Cam was has been seen attempting double back flips, 1080 spins, and full twisting backs into a lake. Although cash may have been a motivating factor in launching these super difficult tricks (even if they were into water), don't be surprised to see Cam busting them out on dirt.
For now, we'll just have to settle watching Cam throw a tailwhip to late barspin on the first set to a backflip barspin on the second set as he did on his way to a 6th place finish at the T-Mobile Core Tour event in Venice, CA. Oh yeah, did we mention how clean his airs are? Get used to it and remember his name …you'll continue to hear it a lot this year.
There are many who would say that Steve McCann is the future of BMX. At 21, McCann has already accomplished what many riders ten years his senior have failed to achieve. McCann took first place in the Asian X Games in 2002 and first place in Dirt at the Australian X Games in 2000.
Steve began riding during his youth in Melbourne, Australia and went pro in 2000. In addition to his skills in dirt, McCann has also been known to compete in vert and street events. In fact, he lists vert as the style of riding other than dirt in which he would most like to compete. He would love to fly in a vert competition the way he does in dirt.
During the off-season, McCann summers in Woodward, Pennsylvania, teaching young riders the ropes of the sport. If he could compete in a non-bike sport, he would be a professional surfer or play football for the Australian Football League's North Melbourne. He also enjoys rap and rock music and spending time with his school friends.
