Last year we have introduced a new competition system in cooperation with BMX Flatland legend Martti Kuoppa, where the 12 finalists can choose their own opponent. With this fact, it's no more than likely that the Japanese will try to knockout Michael Steingraber as early as possible. Also the French and American riders still have a chance to win the World Circuit title making the competition even more exciting.
Flatground not just for the professionals Within only six years Flatground has grown to an international BMX Flatland event where last year 120 riders in three disciplines, out of 30 different countries competed. Flatground is not just a place for professionals; we also have competitions in different amateur levels. This year we will also provide BMX Flatland workshops on Saturday and Sunday to introduce BMX Flatland to a new audience.
Industrial location
The Docklands Hall of the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam, a former shipyard that is currently used for multiple cultural purposes, serves as the visually spectacular backdrop of the Flatground contest. This location emphasizes the creative character of BMX Flatland.
Saturday August 4 all qualifying rounds will take place. On Sunday August 5 the finals of the professionals, without a doubt the highlight of the weekend, will kick off at 3 o'clock, putting the Docklands hall into a frenzy it has not yet experienced before. The presale for the Flatground 2007 tickets has already begun at the BMX Soul Cycle store in Amsterdam at the Weteringschans 221. The tickets are also available online at soulcycle.com.
