ESPN, Inc. and AEG announced that the 11th annual X Games will be held in and around Los Angeles for a third consecutive year. The event is scheduled for August 4-7, 2005.
The annual X Games is the premier action sports event in the world and showcases more than 150 of the world's top athletes competing in Bike Stunt, Moto X, Skateboard, Surfing and Wakeboard. X Games 11 will be telecast live on ESPN and ABC.
For 2005, the Home Depot Center will host an increased number of X Games competitions, while other events will return to STAPLES Center. Additional venues and ticket sales information will be announced on a later date.
Last year's X Games 10, which aired completely live for the first time, delivered record average viewership, shattering X Games Nine's (2003) household average (the previous record) by 47% according to Nielsen Media Research. The event also reached record highs in several major demographic categories. On-site attendance over the four-day event totaled 170,471.
