the parking lot and wanted to fight me, here is an excerpt from my journal entry from 2 two months prior at the NBL X-Mas race in Columbus, Ohio:
"We drank in the hotel room & then a bunch of us went to the campus bars. We went to Skully's first & watched videos of the races. We drank a lot. Funny stuff went on. Then we went to "The Pit" and "Flyers." There were a zillion BMXers in there. Later, Mark Losey, Chris Banes (from Props), and I were dancing all silly. Then a guy pushed Chris & the next thing you know, I broke my beer bottle over his head & a scuffle broke out. We all got kicked out. We saw the guy outside. He was all bleeding & the cops and an ambulance was there. We shaded out the other way and walked the back streets back to our hotel. I found out later that night that the guy who I broke a bottle on his head is a BMXer from Florida. He races Superclass & he was in my Pro Open moto this weekend!"
So this guy came to the Play contest to hunt me down and fight me. And just my luck, when he found me, I was walking to my car and wearing flip flops. I seriously have had nightmares about getting into a fight with flip flops on and not getting any traction. And just my luck, I was wearing them in the ONLY true fight in my whole life! The fight didn't last all that long & it wasn't that intense. But I do remember having bite marks on my chest. Man, I didn't know that you were allowed to bite people in a real fight!
The fight kind of ended when Pete Augustin ran up and said "Todd, you say the word and I will kill this guy." That was about the time that we both got up & the fight ended. Oddly enough, after we fought the guy walked up to me and apologized and shook my hand and told me that he's always looked up to me as a rider. He was just a little weird in the head and he couldn't let it die that I broke the bottle on his head two months earlier. Oh, he did show me the scar that it left as well. Whoops, sorry guy.
Oh, and I did win the freestyle contest that weekend. So I guess I didn't get beat up too bad...

I bet I looked about this dazed and confused after I got knocked silly in the parking lot.

"We Make it Happen"
I started keeping a daily journal way back in 1987 when I was only 15 years old. Back then I was a just a freshman in high school. Since then, every single freakin' day of my life has been documented in these journals. If it happened in my life, then I wrote it down & documented it. And believe me; I've got some stories to tell! Looking back over the years, here is a journal entry that stands out and also my comments looking back now.
