When the news hit in the middle of the night that BMX legend Dave Mirra had passed, you're just hoping you're waking up from a nightmare. Unfortunately that's not the case. Although less active on the BMX bike in recent years, Dave leaves a hole in BMX that cannot be filled. Mirra was big time, my example that at least someone in BMX could retire off of it. Many stories come up thinking about Dave and the plan was to go visit him last September but it didn't work out. That moment won't come as Dave is no more.
I've been fortunate to hang out with Dave multiple times during his trips to Europe. Whenever he was at the bar, you know you were sharing some laughs. When he started Mirra Bike Co. I became part of his program and whenever I saw his name pop up on the screen of the phone it freaked me out. Dave Mirra called me!? Starstruck every time.
Dave was an incredible rider and an amazing person but you all know that. Flip through the three pages of Dave Mirra posts to
remember him. Deepest condolences to the family and friends.
