Advanced Sports joined Comcast NBCUniversal and other hometown donors this week to give 105 bicycles to the children of first responders and members of the military. The donation was organized by Philly POPS for its Christmas in July celebration at Philadelphia’s Comcast Center. The children received Fuji, SE and Tuesday bikes as part of Advanced Sports’ continued advocacy of cycling and for bringing more kids into the sport.
“One of the reasons we are so happy to be here today is because of the importance of cycling in the life of children, and in our community. We all know well that riding a bike brings us a feeling of joy, and each and every child deserves to experience that emotion,” said Milay Galvez, Advanced Sports’ manager of commercial sales and sponsorship.
“Kids have an innate desire to explore; riding a bike can help a child connect with the world. Studies have
proven that learning and focusing improves after riding your bike, increasing brainpower. And not only physical and mental strengths benefit, as cycling helps make social connections, making more friends along the way and is an activity which can be enjoyed as a family. Bicycles are proven to lead to healthier, more connected communities, and this starts with getting kids on bikes.”
