-BMX Racing in South Africa isn't very big. But Sifiso Nhlapo had a goal and it was to go the 2008 Olympic Games. Sifiso moved to Europe to stay at the UCI training center. He hit up the European races, the Supercross races and the World's in China and scored enough points to grab a spot. We posted an interview with him today that we received from South Africa's Lloyd Ramsay.
-The French are out of the championships
-BMX Oldschool freaks probably watched the OS BMX meeting live on the internet and saw Eddie Fiola do a bunny hop show and other classic Eddie Fiola moves. -Romania is out too
-Issue 17/18 of FAT-zine had an orange cover of Mat Hoffman doing a huge flip on a quarterpipe in Bercy, France. Read the issue to go back in time and learn a bit of BMX history today. Issue 19 online tomorrow.
-England wasn't even qualified for the championships!!!
Let's hand this over to DJ for a moment:
-"Mmmmmm..... As you know by now NASS happened last weekend & Mark Webb took the street/park win as well as the 2nd round of the Cruzer tour. With Webb taking the Cruzer win over Dhers it now means they both have to win Cologne to take the overall. With that in mind plus Harry Main, Enarson, Whitton, Mackay, Wallace & Harrington all down for the Masters this years finale looks to be the best yet?!
-Scott Hamlin who took the harshest of slams @ NASS is alive & well. In the latest text message from him it said he has dislocated his collar bone & the ACJ ligamnet is ruptured which pushed his clavicle down his back making for a rather weak back for a while. Scott is more than stoked on the 450+ texts he has received since the slam but is bored sitting at home & said there isn't enough people online to talk to so, send him a message & he'll be stoked www.myspace.com/scotty4rent
-After 3 years BULLS are pulling their BMX program which leaves team rider Mark Webb without a bike sponsor.... Form an orderly line please!!!!
-Jack Marchant, Louie Snith & Paul Jeffries are all at Woodward East before going to Dew
-Did I mention that myself & Jay Twist will be warming up for for the DJ's at the Masters afterparty?
-Some dirty scumbag stole Mike Miller's bike after street finals at NASS.
-Is Ronnie Remo legit enough to follow his dream or will greed make him unlegit??? I'll give you the answer next week...
Thanks DJ
-Holland will beat the Russians
-If you fancy some Street Shit from Brazil, hit up this new website: www.streetshitbmx.com
-Apparently one of those GoPro camera's is on its way to FATBMX to try out. You can mount it on your helmet or something. Does anyone have any other ideas to film some good stuff?
-FATBMX is working on a Flat week to go live in the second week of July. Expect more flatland than a flatland hater can handle.
From Lloyd Ramsay comes the South-African BMX news:
-Buddy Chellan from Cape Town is currently in the UK and just went to NASS. Buddy has yet to come to terms with the Brit accent and missed all his runs during park finals...so if you are on the deck next to him please translate. From there he will be entering the Empire Of Dirt comp.
-South Africa has its first ever rider going to the Olympics for BMX: Sifiso Nhlapo. I am hoping he gives Bart and Paul's countrymen a run for their money haha.
Thanks Lloyd. If anyone else has news to contribute to the FATBMX news flash, that gets sent out by e-mail to everyone who subscribes to the FATBMX News Flash, make sure we get it in by Thursday.
