That wasn’t it for Martin, however. The BMX Rider icon placed third on the podium in the BMX Dirt event that took place on day two of the event. Dawid Godziek of Poland emerged victorious there to claim the gold, and Jaie Toohey of Australia finished with the bronze medal. The latest installment of the X Games marked Martin’s fourth gold medal at the games. And that’s without mentioning all of the silver medals he’s racked up at the games over the years. Martin was also a champion at the 2018 games (Freestyle park BMX in Minneapolis) and at the aforementioned 2019 Minneapolis Games twice (Freestyle Park and Freestyle dirt). And all of those gold medals are on top of his 2020 Olympic gold medal (BMX freestyle) and gold medals at the 2017 and 2021 World Championships. His legacy is more than set at this point, but of course, Martin is far from finished in adding to it.

A lot of the focus was on 2020 Olympic skateboarder Jagger Eaton of Mesa, Arizona. Eaton — who earned a bronze medal as a 20-year-old at last summer’s games in Tokyo — finished fifth in the Men’s Skateboarding Park on the final day of the games. It was another noteworthy showing by Eaton on the giant stage. Eaton, of course, won gold just three months ago in the Men’s Skateboarding Park earlier at the X Games in Chiba, Japan. Australian Kieran Woolley emerged victorious in the Men’s Skateboarding Park to claim the gold medal. The 18-year-old phenom turned heads when he claimed a silver medal at the aforementioned X Games in Chiva, finishing behind Eaton.
Gavin Bottger finished second behind Woolley on the final day of the Men’s Skateboard Park to claim the silver medal. 22-year-old Luiz Francisco — a silver medalist at the 2019 World Skateboarding Championship — finished third to win the bronze medal. Just one year after winning Olympic gold at the 2020 Summer Olympics as a 13-year-old, Momiji Nishiya added more gold to her trophy room. Nishiya finished first in the Women’s Skateboarding Street to win the gold at the X Games. Nishiya held off second-place finisher Chloe Covell and bronze medalist Yumeka Oda for her first gold medal at these games.
The Real Street Best Trick was one the other of three events that closed out the final day of the Summer X Games. 23-year-old Yuto Horigome of Japan claimed the gold medal — finishing ahead of 26-year-old American Jamie Foy (silver medal) and veteran Matt Berger of Canada (bronze medal).
It was another special accomplishment for Horigome, who continues to build a special legacy as one of the best skateboarders of his era. Horigome also won gold at the 2020 Summer Olympics, at last year’s Street Skateboarding World Championship and at the 2019 X Games (Minneapolis) and the aforementioned 2022 Chiba Games.
