From 21st – 23rd October, The Manchester Evening News Arena (MEN Arena) will host the LG Action Sports Championships (LGASC), the season-ending Championships that regularly attracts the very best action sports super stars from around the world. It’s the first time that this high-profile event has ever been held out side of the US.
Boasting more than $650,000 in cash and prizes – the largest per-sport purse in action sports history – the LGASC will showcase 250 of the world’s top professional and amateur athletes from freestyle BMX, skateboarding, inline skating and freestyle motocross.
In addition to a pool of the UK’s hottest talent, each of the event’s defending Champions, including
Jamie Bestwick (UK) and
Ryan Nyquist (US) are expected to compete along with an international ‘who’s who’ of action sports. Some of the other global stars expected at the LGASC include
Simon Tabron (UK), Dave Mirra (US), Kevin Robinson (US) and
Steve McCann (AUS).
The 3-day action-packed event will not only include six elite competitions, but also top-name live music, pro autograph signings, video gaming and an urban culture zone that will contain graffiti art, DJ’s and break-dancing competitions that are part of the ITF (International Turntable Federation) UK Championships. The LG Action Sports Championships will also play host to amateur skate, BMX and inline competitions, with the top finishers qualifying for the 2006 LGASC pro circuit.
