Andy Zeiss and Mike Emde found a date for next year's Rebel Jam in Berlin: 11-13August 2006.
"To be honest it wasn't the easiest part to find a space in 2006 as such many and good events will happen and also the Soccer Worlds are taking place here in Germany starting 09.06.- 09.07.2006." says co-organiser Zeiss. For the location Andy and Mike would like to provide everybody the great facilities of Mellowpark in Berlin once again. Also there will be some minor changes on the set-up to make things even more interesting on that weekend. Emde: "Feel sure that we and our partners will give our best again to ensure a great rebeljam 2006 and a nice time in Berlin - But once again: rebeljam wouldn't have been such a great success without your huge interest and support. THANKS A MILLION!!!"
The rebeljam website will also be updated by early 2006. So keep an eye open on any news: www.rebeljam.com
- Jason Richardson's HARO contract started on 1 December 2005 and the very next weekend J-Rich was over in Switzerland representing in HARO colors. Jason made both mains but a few crashes held him back. Main one on Saturday he went down (with the rest of the pack) in turn one and finished 6th. On Sunday Jason was in third until the last turn where he started slipping and sliding and went down on the slick track. read his report in the HARO BMX news section.
- Congratulations to Haro Europe rider Anthony Pill. He's getting married this month.
- HARO's new BMX racer Derek Betcher had been the center of attention on some message boards. Let's see if he can shut the critics up.
- The Chenga 1 park in Ohio is nearing their final chapter. They had one more contest earlier this month and HARO's Dustin Bauer finished 6th in Pro Park which was stacked with pros.
SHADOWS AMERICAN PREMIER DATES FEATURING ALISTAIR WHITTON, BYRON ANDERSON, JOE SIMON, JOHN JENNINGS, RYAN SHER. The Shadow Conspiracy Premier BMX video release parties will be happening all over the country
December 9,10,11,12, 2005 at a local bike shop listed below. There is going to be more shops added but we wanted to start getting the word out as early as we could. So if you do not see you local shop listed bug them to set one up by calling Sparky's Distribution.
Each of these shops are not only going to open their doors for you to come hang and watch a video but they are supporting the local scene and giving you a chance to be one of the first to check the new Shadow video.
Also as a bonus your local shop will be one of the only shops in the world to have the Shadow video untill the week of the 12th. So if you want to be the first to get your grubby little hands on the first ever Shadow video, make it out and support your local shop.
Senad Grosic has been hired by the Austrian army for special attack tactics. He takes his HARO bike and starts distracting the enemy by doing all kind of stunts. In the meantime the Austrian Army can surround the bad boys and capture them. Then Senad has to do some backwheel hops on their bodies while they're laying on the ground if they don't answer the questions correctly. If that doesn't work, a tailspin to their face will take them out.
BMX is an acronym for Bicycle Motocross. This film documents the evolution of a sport created by kids who [in the 1970’s] began modifying their Schwinn Sting- Ray bicycles to look like motorcycles. This documentary is the first film to take a serious look at the history and evolution of BMX bicycle riding, from the streets of 1960s suburban neighborhoods to today's stadium-packed televised Dirt, Street & Halfpipe insanity. The sport of BMX is driven by individual riders. BMX is not made by corporations; instead corporations base their advertising on the lifestyles of these riders. This film captures the kind of stories that cannot come from a marketing strategy, coaches or statistics buffs - but rather from the individual guys who turned common street bikes into instruments of grace, strength and personal expression.
The individuals who started races and freestyle contests themselves. It is the individualism and self-expression of these riders that makes the sport's history, and this film, so unique. With people like Scot Breithaupt who started the first organized races in Long Beach in 1970, to Bob Haro, who pioneered BMX Freestyle riding, and created the first BMX freestyle bike, to Mat Hoffman, who’s personal sacrifices helped propel BMX stunt riding into the spotlight. These are some of the people who helped make BMX such a unique subculture.
Internet connections are getting faster and faster. This helps with downloading videos from the net. Everyone and their uncle seems to have a video camera these days and more and more people are putting it to good use by editing short movies. The professional guys don't slack either. We have been using the Freecaster program on FATBMX for 2005 and are stoked on the number of movies that they have provided us with. Click the small banner on the left to go directly to their latest movie, the Cream 3 trailer. Once there, you can choose from Props trailers, Backyard jam clips, IBMXFF World's footage, the King Of Concrete, Braun NinjaSpin, Berlin City Games, Braun Cruzer Tour, Roadfools, German BMX masters, 3 Degrees, Red Bull Garage Punks, and tons more.
After picking up Australian Colin MacKay, the HARO squad has picked up Daniel Dhers from Venezuela. Quite a few drunken pros were at the Baco-a-go-go jam over Halloween to witness Daniel win the Best Trick contest with a front flip over the decked spine. He's a ripper, just remember the name: Daniel Dhers.
There's no secret we appreciate the FATBMX.com sponsors. SE BMX have their new 2006 website up and you should take a look at it. The Wildman has put some serious time into the project and it shows. The history of the company goes way back to 1970 when Scot Breithaupt began organizing "Pedal Cross" races (that's called BMX these days). Scot started the SE Racing company in 1976 and still helps out with the company today. There is a section how you can become part of the SE Terror Squad, you can check out the 2006 bikes and find a distributor/dealer in your area. Anyway, click the SE banner on the right to get there.
Millencolin, Flogging Molly and The Unseen played in Tilburg at the Antidote tour. 013 was sold out, but the people at Vans and Eastpak made sure the FATBMX crew had tickets. Dennis and Paul picked me up in Dennis' VW transporter (for sale) and we ditched traffic to arrive in Tilburg in time for a few cold ones before the concert started. Some dudes in skeleton suits (Unseen?) couldn't really impress. Good thing we had a spot at the bar while watching this band. I wasn't sure if we were allowed to bring a camera inside the 013 concert hall but we tried our phones to get some sort of photo material for this interview.
