Mongoose Bikes, a brand of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) announced today an all-new format for the fifth annual Mongoose Jam. Rather than a live, three discipline event, five teams captained by Mongoose BMX pros will compete in a video edit contest featuring Street, Dirt, and Park riding. Each team will have five days during Woodward West’s ninth week of camp to create the best video edit.
From July 31st through August 5th fifteen pros, five amateurs, and five videographers will shoot and produce five team edits. The teams’ video edits will be screened for all Week Nine campers at Woodward West’s theater on Friday, August 5th and judged by BMX industry veterans. Winning edits will be selected based on originality and style, the variety and difficulty of tricks used and the video production quality.

This weekend’s World of X Games will air two back-to-back 30-minute episodes on Saturday, April 30 beginning with Remembering Mirra at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT followed by Creating a Monster, Doonies 2 at 2:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT on ABC. The first World of X Games episode, Remembering Mirra will feature a tribute to action sports star and X Games icon, Dave Mirra. The episode will dive into his storied career and supreme dominance of BMX at X Games, illustrated through several historic moments and records, resulting in 13-straight X Games medals beginning at the inaugural X Games event in 1995. Mirra is one of only two athletes in the event’s history to have won multiple gold medals in three separate X Games events.

The FISE World Montpellier will take place as usual on the Lez river Banks from May 4th to May 8th. Thrills guaranteed during the biggest extreme sports event in the world with more than ½ million visitors. 1800 athletes, pro and amateurs, from 55 different nationalities will be challenging the gravity laws during 5 days of festival. 6 disciplines will be feature: BMX (Flat, freestyle and spine ramp), Mountain Bike Slopestyle, Skateboard, Wakeboard, Roller and Freestyle Scooter.
With no Dew Tour happening in the USA this year there are not a lot of events taking place in America where riders can make some cash. One option is the X-Games in Austin, but you need that invite before you even have a chance to win some money.
