Jamie Bestwick’s domination continued today as he took the gold medal once again in BMX Vert at X Games Barcelona 2013. It’s an incredible eighth-straight gold in the event, an X Games record. His Monster Energy teammate Vince Byron took the bronze, making for two Monster Energy riders on the podium. Since he began competing at X in 1996, Bestwick has been a force to be reckoned with on the vert ramp. He took his first gold in 2000 and began his dominant winning streak in 2007, winning every event since them. He’s won more consecutive gold medals than anyone in X Games history.

His tricks and runs today were trademark huge, high, and smooth—they included opposite turndown flairs, stylish fastplant flairs, big downside tailwhips, and his seatgrab 540 nac nac.

“To win eight in a row is a true testament to how much I like riding my bike for the fans around the world. You just can’t stop me from riding,” said Bestwick afterwards.

After the great success of the action sports show Nitro Circus Live in December 2012, it was announced earlier this year that the show will come back to Gelredome in Arnhem on December 7th. Today an additional show was announced in the Ziggo Dome on December 3rd. It is the first time that the successful Nitro Circus Live crew attends Amsterdam. Reason is the high demand for tickets in the region around Amsterdam and the brand new venue, Ziggo Dome, which is ideally suited for the all-new show. Ticket sales start immediately.

The FISE is coming up this week and new on the program is a street session with a 2000 Euro prize purse. It will be held on Friday afternoon 10 May at 14:30hr. Any pro can enter and so far it looks like the following riders are game:

For the last few months the locals have been digging at the Helm Trails to get everything in shape for the ONK 2013 which will take place on 5 May. The trails are looking absolutely fabulous even though most of the jumps need to be tested first.
  But with a solid crew working on the trails this part will be taken care of as well. It will be rocking. Make sure you put the Open Dutch BMX Dirt Championships on your calendar for Sunday May 5th. Open to international dirt riders too. There's something to ride for all ages and all levels. The nearby kids track will keep the little ones occupied while the tricks will take place on the other side of the fence. The cycling bridge will give all visitors a spectacular view. Free admission.
