There is a great vibe going on with the team. We train hard, having fun together we and meet up with some sponsors… Week 1 is always about acclimate to the time and weather conditions. For me it’s not easy to adapt… Takes me about a week to get used to the 9hrs time difference. Unfortunately we could only do 1 track session because of the rain, so we took some more time to get in the flow here and visited our eyewear sponsor Oakley.
Week 2 started of a little rough, because we couldn’t ride on any bmx track due to the rain that fell the weekend before. We shaped up the Oakley pumptrack and did some gate practice on the 1-person starting gate. It’s fun, but we needed the big SX track in Chula Vista.
On Thursday we were allowed to hit the track again, but unfortunately I couldn’t ride due to some lower back issues. I took 2 days off, did an easy ride on the road bike and helped the coach with filming my teammates. On Saturday I was able to get back in the swing of training, so I started with some easy things on the track and it actually felt pretty good. We did some timing on the starting hill and second straight. It feels good to be one of the fastest a couple of times…
In between we got the new TroyLeeDesigns sprint gear. This will be our 2014 gear. It’s super light and specially designed for bike riding! As you can see we’re still missing the sponsor logos on the jersey. The real racing jerseys are coming soon with some more orange in it of course.
We have a few more training days left over here. I feel great on the bike, so I like to keep the flow going and just get some more speed in my legs.
