What career number is printed on the back?
Sae Hatakeyama: I will printed #85 on the back of my Jersey this year. Exciting to race with career number for the first time since I'm first year in Elite category!
What do you look for in protection gear? Comfort? Weight? Quality? Pricing?
Sae Hatakeyama: Comfort fitting and well protected.
How does it feel showing up at a race with brand new gear?
Sae Hatakeyama: I feel fresh every time wearing a new gears and very high motivated!
What happens to your old gear at the end of the season?
Sae Hatakeyama: Throwing to old history / correcting box at my house.
Do you change lenses much in your goggles?
Sae Hatakeyama: Yes I choose different lenses depend on the weather condition and a color of dirt.
You ripped your gloves. What do you do with them?
Sae Hatakeyama: Bye bye most of the time…
Do you save a jersey yourself from each season?
Sae Hatakeyama: Yes, I’m keeping all the jerseys in my house.
What’s a product you can advise every rider to use?
Sae Hatakeyama: It’s hard to find now since it discontinued from 2018 products lineup, but Troy Lee SE Elbow pads with hard shells are my favorite pads!
Do you think certain protection gear should be mandatory or do you leave that up to the rider himself/herself to decide?
Sae Hatakeyama: I think it’s just up to the riders whether they wear the certain protection gears or not. It’s all about their preference and what is the best choice that they think.
Any advice to the BMX racers out there?
Sae Hatakeyama: At least wear the helmet anytime you ride your bike
