What was the biggest difference over the last bike you raced?
Romain Mahieu: The top tube length is different than my old bikes. I used to race 22’’ top tube. Now I’m on a 21.75’’. The first few weeks I tried the GT 22.5’’ but it felt just a little bit too big for me.

How do you like the look of your bike?
Romain Mahieu: I love this one! A&S design is one of the sponsors of the team here in France and I was able to work with him and get a customized frame. The French Army “CNSD” is supporting me for a few years now and I wanted to have a bike with these colors to represent them on the races.

Do you have anything customized on the bike?
Romain Mahieu: Only the paint job.

When you ride the trails, do you switch bikes?
Romain Mahieu: Yes! My handlebar is way too low on my race bike to ride trails, haha.

Do you have spare parts in stock or will you be able to get them to your place fast in case you need something?
Romain Mahieu: I do have spare parts. I know I can count on my sponsors GT/ Sarrians BMX/ Pride racing.. to send me something if it’s an emergency. But I try to always have 2 identical bikes so if something happens I just switch bike.

Do you always have a clean bike?
Romain Mahieu: I always clean my bike. I’m a little bit of a clean freak

What is the geometry and length of your frame?
Romain Mahieu: Pro XXL - 21.75”

Do you experiment a lot with the sizes of your frame, stem, bars to find the right set-up?
Romain Mahieu: I did since I switched to GT. Just to try to have something similar to what I used to ride. But it was only the first few months. Now it’s all good!

Romain Mahieu: 6,5 bars
