On top of this dedication, Copenhagen also has the experience needed to create the best platform for BMX to develop and be promoted in the years leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Breakthrough with the best promotion. Growing and promoting BMX will be the main focus for our organising committee, which will be strongly supported by the Danish Government, the City of Copenhagen and Danish sports. Numerous major international and national events will take place in Copenhagen and Denmark over the coming years and they will provide a unique platform for promoting BMX. Most importantly we will use the 2009 IOC Session and Olympic Congress in Copenhagen as the starting ramp for an unprecedented promotion and focus on BMX. We believe that with our strong partnerships and our unique communication platforms we can create the best possible build up to the 2012 Olympics in London.
Breakthrough with the best organisation. We understand that the organisation of the 2012 BMX World Championships cannot be left to chance. Too much is at stake. Through the “Bike City” project, Copenhagen has gained immense event organisation experience as well as new superb BMX facilities. In addition, Copenhagen is a perfect sports event destination because it is easy to get to and easy to get around in. We will make sure that nothing gets in the way of providing the athletes with the optimal setting for outstanding performance. With the experience and volunteer base gained from organising the BMX World Cups and other major cycling events such as the 2010 Track World Championships and the 2011 Road World Championships we can guarantee that the UCI and the athletes can concentrate fully on the preparations for the upcoming Olympics by focusing solely on performance, and nothing else.
