BMX Australia has re-named its National Talent Identification Program (NTID) to be known as the National Athlete Development Program (NADP) and is pleased to announce the names of the 10 athletes and coach of the 2011/2012 squad. The National Athlete Development Program has been developed as a tool to assist athletes in realising their full potential and to meet the needs of Elite performance at World and Olympic levels.

You had an amazing year in 2012. What titles have you won so far?
Joris: Yeah it is a crazy good season for me, I won the French championships, became Euro champ and UCI World Champion.. really satisfied about that!

You are racing against the best riders in the world. Did you ever think you would be able to beat them all?
Joris: When I was young, it was like a dream racing in Elite men and be one of the best riders in the world! Now it came true, it's an unbelievable feeling... I think when you're racing and training so hard everyday, you only can believe you're gonna beat them! That's why you train and love racing..

The Olympic Games are set for London for the summer of 2012. BMX racing will be part of it again. To make sure that things are all in place, they held a BMX race in the Olympic Village on the track that was built for the 2012 Games. I decided to go to London to see what it was like and was prepared for the worst. I’m not a fan of security telling me what to do or where to go so you can imagine that going to the venue was going to be a journey. I arrived at Stansted Airport in the morning and took a bus to Stratford station. I was told to turn left at the station and walk for about 15 minutes. When I got there I did see the BMX and Basketball signs which was a good thing. At least I got off the bus at the right place. Now the next step was the media pass. I had filled in 4 forms online to get into the system and only received confirmation 2 weeks before the event. This didn’t help with the travel plans but luckily my name showed up at accreditation so within a few minutes I had a pass around my neck.
