Peter Jandt told me once that he could pick out a pair of Vans out of a stack of shoes while blindfolded. He didn't even have to touch the shoes either. How then? It was the smell of the natural rubber.

Now that the shoes are being made in China, this trick will no longer work, but still the style is the same and the pair of RAD Authentics brings back even more memories.

While custom ordering your vans in the pattern, colour and size, you could also pick the print on the side sole for a few bucks more. Checkers were popular but the book had multiple options.

Now I think it's time to bring this back. Imagine what you could do with this; bike brand names, rider names, Stay Strong print, FATBMX, band names, etc. Worth a few

extra bucks to really customize your classic Vans, right?

Anyway, I'm stoked on my new pair of Authentics with the RAD print on the side. Too good to wear, but I'll save them for the right moment. It won't be at the party in Tallinn though.
