Mutiny is proud to introduce Brandon Hoerres’ new signature frame, the Nocturnal. We have been working on this for quite a while, we sat down with Brandon to see what he wanted out of a frame and what we could do to fix the problem he has with denting down tubes. The Nocturnal features a double butted teardrop down tube this offers two huge advantages over a regular round tube. One is that this type of tube is very good at being dent resistant, in tests we hammered on the tube, the only damage was small dents on the bottom of the tube, we also took a normal tube and beat it the same way and pretty much flattened it.

The second great thing about this tube is its shape, we have a lot more room to weld it, especially at the bottom bracket junction, which makes for a really stiff BB junction. Brandon wanted to avoid a wish bone on the BB chain stay junction, we came up with a plate that offers equal stiffness to a wishbone junction, this and the teardrop tube work very well together. Rather than a tube for the seat stay brace we used a plate, this offers equal strength to a tube, is lighter and looks pretty sweet. The frame features angled brake mounts, rather than the brake lug being welded on at 90°, we angled the lugs to 83° to offer optimum brake cable alignment.

Who doesn't like a good kinked rail? To avoid the problem of your chainstays getting mangled on kinked ledges, rails and whatever else you want to grind we raised the stays to offer more clearance.
