WHO: ESPN X Games, the world’s premier action sports event WHAT: Announces its event dates for X Games 12 WHEN: August 3-6, 2006 WHERE: Los Angeles, Calif. Details: ESPN today announces that X Games 12 will be held August 3-6, 2006 for its fourth consecutive year in Los Angeles, California. The annual X Games is the premier action sports event in the world, featuring athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard, Surfing and Wakeboard. X Games 12 will be telecast live on ESPN and ABC.

The ABA season should be winding down with just 2 races left before the Grand Nationals, but the action is heating up in the AA Pro Class. Bubba Harris has lead the AA Pro title chase all season long and has an incredible season, with the maximum # of wins you can score in the AA Pro class already secured a few months ago. Kyle Bennett, last years NBL #1 Pro season, had a crash early on in the season caused him a major knee injury that needed surgery to repair. Since Kyle's comeback from that injury, a fire has been lit and at each race in the past 3 months, he has placed either 1st or 2nd each day. Kyle, who now sits in 2nd overall in the AA chase, can only move up with 1st place finishes. This weekend turned out huge for him and just moved up 80 points closer to the title. The Boneyard skatepark a.k.a 'the hall' has been on the scene for a long while now and has nurtured some of the best riders the uk has ever been home too; Jon Taylor, Owain Clegg and Alistair Whitton are all riders who have reaped the fruits of the boneyard. Althougth the park may be considered small by some, it features a flowing layout which once mastered is an effortless blast to pump around. The Boneyard regularly hold good jams which go down a treat; Last Saturdays was no exception! Here's what went down...

Friday 21 October will be the day of the Expo in Hengelo, The Netherlands. The jam contest will take place between 8pm and 2am. Bands and a bar are present. The place is already open if you feel like riding indoors. Times are: 16:00hr - 20:00hr every day during the week. Saturday and Sunday from noon till 6pm. There is no cover charge and the expo takes place until 26 October 2005.

The Palast Der Republik was the venue of the first Berlin City Games, a pro and amateur flatland contest. The DVD we received in the FATBMX mailbox arrived right before the [url=//fatbmx.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=923]second edition of the City Games[/url] and consisted solely about Berlin City Games 1 (2004). The production of the DVD was of a very high level as was the quality of the filming. It starts off with a 30 minute highlight of the event which, I believe, is the best part of the DVD. All the better tricks are pulled and edited to a 30 minute DVD of great flatland from pros (Kuoppa, Penonzek, Jumelin, Mike S., Sauter, Chiquet, Roese) to amateurs, a.o. Dez and Sytse from Holland. Jesse Puente gets a separate part in the bonus section but they might have well stuck the extra clips in the video itself. The bonus section also shows the work that goes into putting on a flatland contest (more than you'd think) and the separate runs from all pro and amateur finalists. This resulted in a bit of an anti-climax in the DVD because it shows that the pros and ams do get off their bikes during their runs on a few occasions.

Paul's Custom Choppers PCC Paul de Jong from Paul's Boutique BMX is closing his BMX business after 25 years in the sport it is time to move on and build some supersick Custom Choppers in his backyard and earning more money on PCC Shirts than on his bikes like fellow builders OCC and WCC. Here you can see his first model called the "PEEWEE" and after a succesful testride of 15 mph it is time to sell it to the highest bidder, everything over Euro 419,00 is welcome.

BMX BOK Series 2005 Burnside Deventer Another tradition went on: BMX BOK Series at pegless park BURNSIDE Deventer. Over thirty riders entered the contest and it shows that the scene in the Netherlands is finally growing bigger and bigger and the level is improving a lot lately. Herm and Crew are always improving the park and even raised the roof so the BMX'ers could go higher on the Wall of Death and other places in the park. The riders are improving as said before and we saw new talents showing up in the finals and leaving some top riders to the side. More riders were present but didn't enter so next year it is: Enter the contest or you can't ride the park!

Cycling Australia and BMX Australia are pleased to announce the eleven cyclists selected as members of the inaugural BMX High Performance Program (BMX HPP). "The partnership between Cycling Australia and BMX Australia means elite level BMX has now come under the current high performance programs section within Cycling Australia," said Graham Fredericks, CEO of Cycling Australia. "This means it will benefit from the management, direction and administration support already established for our highly successful road, track, mountain bike and disability programs."

Rampage park in Iowa was going to close down but not before the FBR posse made it over for a session. Riders who showed up for the front brake tech session at Moliterno’s park included Osato, Anthony Pill, Ryan Nyquist, Chad de Groot, Freimuth, James Hitchcox, Eben Fischer and more high level tech riders. Legend is basically a video that covers the happening at Rampage plus a few extra’s like an insane Rob Ridge part, a pre Rampage road trip of the UK squad to Area 51, 4 Seasons and Terry’s Barn. If you like chaos, you’ll like the Hummer riding over two cars and all the fire that went on in that session. The riding covers roughly 30 minutes. A good part of that comes from Anthony Pearson who rips and seems to learn tricks on the fly. A bunch of riders get a riding part followed by a little interview where they talk about riding with a front brake, the event and Rampage. The video has a bronze feeling to it. It’s like having a black and white roll of film developed on colour paper. It didn’t disturb me.
