On the hot 16th of July Daniel Wedemeijer won pro in the categories highest air and mini and made himself overall winner of the first BMX only contest in skate park Westblaak (The Netherlands). Initiator Jonathan Jansen did the same by winning in Expert the category highest air en became second in street. Winners by category are:

Sickest trick:

On Saturday 9 September 2006 the Flatland elite will be in paris for the FlatRing contest. With riders on the program such as Viki Gomez, Alex Jumelin, Martti Kuoppa, Bram Verhallen, Terry Adams, Michael Steingraeber, Frank Lukas, York Uno, Matt Wilhelm and a whole bunch more, there is only one spot where you need to be on the second September Saturday. The Cirque d'Hiver, located in the heart of Paris, will host the contest and the riders will battle for 10.000 Euros in prize money. The info lists that this will be the first BMX event in Paris since ten years but I'm sure others will argue that. Needless to say, book your trip to Paris and bring your lady too for some late night romance along the Seine.

If you want to watch practice you gotta show up between 4pm and 7pm. The contest starts at 8pm and will be followed by a Cocktail VIP party.

Today at the LG Action Sports World Tour, we wrapped up the bike events with BMX Vert Finals.  It was a windy day at Dance Valley.  Maybe it was due to the loud techno-dance beats and the thousands of dancers in attendance.  BMX Vert is a very dangerous sport, and these athletes put it all on the line today.

Since this LG stop was in Amsterdam, I expected most of these guys to be out late last night, but I’m happy to say these professional riders stayed in.  These guys had to fight the wind, deal with the headaches from the loud music, and put together at least one good run to place well.  Here’s what happened…

Imagine this: Dance Valley - an open air dance festival featuring 120 DJs and a live performance by the Prodigy. In the middle of the festival area a huge set-up with a half-pipe and a very good park set-up.

Behind the half-pipe and park a relative small part was reserved for the FMX demo. The FMX guys did not have any space left to make an error.

Last weekend the LG Action Sports World Tour landed in Amsterdam, at one of the largest open air dance festivals in the world: Dance Valley. With BMX street on Friday and BMX vert on Saturday together with some freestyle motocross demos, the weekend was a blast. Tobias Wicke sure seems to like Amsterdam. After his win at the Redbull Bridge Master in April this year, he returned to Amsterdam for his second Amsterdam victory.

I wanted to go to Roskilde for years but never made it due to whatever reasons, this year I made it to one of the biggest Music festivals in Europe with 90.000 crazy Skandinavians. Pim van den Bos is sponsored by Simple Bikes and Eastpak and Niels Thanlid invited Pim to enter the show on Tuesday and Wednesday and made me the announcer, not knowing this the week before it was hard to book flights but Pim’s father joined in and brought us to Denmark by car! 1000 Kilometres and 13 hours later we arrived on time for the show on Tuesday.

Eighteen riders from all over Europe and even Argentina and Australia were found to entertain the huge crowd that arrives at Monday/Tuesday several days before the concerts starts.

On the initiative of "local" BMXer Jonathan Jansen and sport and recreation Rotterdam, Yi Control organizes a Freestyle BMX contest on Westblaak. “Best of Blaak” takes place on Sunday July 16 and starts at 13.00 hour on the skate course Westblaak in Rottterdam. The event has competitions in the categories: street, mini and highest air (expert and pro). Entry for both the participants and public is free.

Madison, Wis. July 12, 2006 - Mongoose vert rider Simon Tabron and Mongoose dirt and street rider Cam White are both invited to compete in the 2006 X Games. The invitation-only contest will take place in Los Angeles at the Staple Center August 3-6. 

Cam White is excited about the X Games invitation and looks forward to the competition. "I'm pretty stoked to be invited," said Cam. "I was invited last year but a crash in practice put me out, so I'm pretty happy I get another chance and I'm not going to miss this opportunity again if I can help it." "I've had a broken rib for the past few weeks, so my riding hasn't had much attention which sucks, but I had the first good ride since I broke it before the (recent) CFB contest and it was great to be back and feeling good. My goal for this year was to win a contest. I won the CFB so I'm stoked I achieved my goal and now I'm just having fun and sending myself everyday."

After much deliberation and many excellent entries that made the decision process extremely difficult, Nike 6.0 has chosen their Media Apprentice. Ben Green, 19, from Surrey deservedly won the comp after entering with two amazing examples of his work. The first showed his skills as a BMX videographer with well thought out cinematography and interesting choices of locations. His second is a hilarious, brilliantly edited, story of a BMX business man’s journey to work!
