In the world’s largest showcase for action sports, the team claimed five medals in one day, including a full podium sweep in the BMX Park Best Trick discipline. At the California Training Facility (CA|TF), Monster Energy’s Mike Varga claimed gold with teammate Kevin Peraza earning silver and Jeremy Malott walking away with bronze in Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick. In the elite BMX Park contest, Justin Dowell took home the silver medal.
By the end of the fourth day of X Games 2022, the Monster Energy team had claimed a total of fifteen medals (4 gold, 9 silver, 2 bronze) with one more day to go.

On Wednesday, vertical BMX and Skate disciplines were contested at the private “Sloanyard” facility in Vista, California, in a closed-to-the-public setting. The first-ever BMX MegaPark event saw 28-year-old Pat Casey from Riverside, California, claim silver as his fifth X Games medal.
The 65th edition of X Games is closed to the public with no spectators in attendance and broadcast live to global audiences. Medal events are contested at three unique athlete training facilities around Southern California: Monster Energy’s Sloan hosted Skateboard Vert competitions and the first MegaPark ramp at X Games for Skateboard and BMX competitions in his “Sloanyard” on Wednesday. At the final stop of the competition series in Denver, Colorado, the 27-year-old from Corona, California, took second place in BMX Dirt to finish the season at the top of the leaderboard. Sandoval also soared above the competition in the Best Trick event and claimed the win.
“Winning the overall title feels pretty good and I’m just happy with the drive I’ve had lately to want to push hard. And to show up and have a trick list so big it’s hard to pick which ones will work for the weekend,” said Sandoval upon winning the 2022 Monster Energy BMX Triple Challenge series title.

In the heated BMX Street final, 23-year-old Australian team rider Lewis Mills clinched the gold medal, bringing the Monster Energy team’s total X Games medal haul on Saturday to five medals (1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze).
