Spectator favourite
Mike “Hucker” Clarke (USA) is sure to provide some entertainment both on and off the course and is a rider with a glaringly obvious natural talent. Hucker is not afraid to “huck his meat” at anything and everything on his bike and says riding dirt is “all about catching air and going fast.”
“I’m so stoked to be coming back to New Zealand, I had such a blast last year! The trails are so sick and I’m looking forward to roastin it with all my buddies” says
Hucker.
Australia’s
Corey Bohan has made an indelible impression on the
world of BMX and will be shredding at Red Bull Roast It for his first time. His smooth style is admired throughout the BMX industry and his creative trick combos have landed him on the podium countless times.
Paul Langlands (NZ) is also excited to defend his “Best Rider” title in this year’s event. “This comp is put on so well, there are just so many good lines at Gorge Road and it’s so much fun riding with your friends. I’m really looking forward to it” commented Langlands.
The star of this year’s Nitro Circus Tour, Jed Mildon (NZ), is returning to roast Gorge Road after taking out the “Best Trick” prize at Red Bull Roast It 2012. Mildon is known for landing the world’s first BMX triple back flip, making him a global BMX hero for trick progression. 19-year-old Red Bull New Zealand athlete Jaden Leeming has also been hailed as a rider on the way up and will be competing for the first time after withdrawing last year from injury.
Competition on the day will see 10 man heats starting at 12pm. The top five from each heat will progress forward. Competitors will judge the heat before them, voting the best riders into the 20 man, hour-long super final which will show who is going to be the winner of the three categories "Best Rider", "Best Line" and "Best Trick".
The dedicated crew of Gorge Road has been busy at work over the last few weeks with new additions and new lines being created just for Red Bull Roast It. Who will take out the glory at Red Bull Roast It? All will be revealed at Gorge Road Jump Park from 12pm on Saturday March 2.
