Sheep Hills has been around forever. The first time I visited the spot was years ago. 1992 I believe. It's been in the news and on the scene ever since. Several generations of riders have maintained the jumps and built some new lines to keep the place going. It's worth an annual visit just to see how the place is doing and if we're lucky some riding gets done. Last fall one of the Sheep Hills Locals by the name of
Mike "Boozer" Brown crashed in a BMX race in Reno and broke his back which has landed him in a wheelchair. Mike has spent more time at Sheep Hills than most of us digging, riding and something that has to do with his nickname.
On 7 April we're going to get together at Sheep Hills for the Boozer Jam. Mike will be there and so will the Sheep Hills Locals, current Pro racers, the BMX media, BMX friends and family, current dirt jump pro riders and old school BMX-ers. It will be a gathering of sorts when
Mike Dominguez, AJ Anaya, Brian Blyther, Robbie Morales, Xavier Mendez, Nick Noble, Mike "Hucker" Clark, Colin MacKay, Alan Foster, Big Daddy,
Dale Holmes, Bogi Givens, Chris Breen, Todd Lyons, Robert de Wilde, Ryan Guettler, Chris Moeller, Barspinner, Nasty, Steve Boehmke, Beltbuckle Barry Nilson, Chris Hughes, Ben Snowden, Anthony Reyes, Robbie Miranda, Jerry Badders, Brandon Dosch, Paul Roberts, Andy Zeiss, Jason German, Adam & Jason Pope, Mike de Wit, Sean Duncan, Shaun Butler, Freddy Chulo and the likes will meet up for an afternoon of fun at Sheep Hills.
You can come down too. Riding and spectating is free. Down for a good time?
ALERT! If you feel like helping out, you can. Simply show up for more maintenance, building, filling up the water cans, testing and all that good stuff. It takes a group effort for the Boozer jam to become a success. 7 April is going to be epic if everyone lends a hand.
