House of Vans London Presents: Stephen Murray, Staying Strong Book launch on Saturday 24th June - 12:00 - 18:00. Q&A session with Stephen Murray: 3pm. To celebrate the launch of Stephen Murray’s harrowing autobiography, House of Vans London are excited to announce the official launch event to celebrate the release on Saturday 24th June.
Professional BMX athlete Stephen Murray moved to California to pursue and live the action sports dream. The mind-set and focus of Stephen in his racing days are what helped him to the top in 2001 when he won gold at both the X and Gravity Games, pulling backflips and 360 flip variations. His do or die, go big approach is what set him apart from other athletes and made him a global BMX hero. In 2007, whilst competing at the 2007 Dew Tour in Baltimore, Stephen suffered a life-changing accident that left him paralysed from the neck down and confined to a wheel chair.
Stephen’s forthcoming autobiography Staying Strong details this journey, from his rise to fame to
staying positive in the face of adversity and the power of remaining mentally strong in the ultimate hope he may walk again.
To celebrate the launch of Stephen’s autobiography, a full programme of events will take place on Saturday 24th June. The House of Vans cinema will host a Q&A with Stephen from 3pm accompanied by screenings of a selection of Stay Strong’s inspirational videos and Stephen Murray’s legendary riding footage. The gallery in tunnel one will feature a look back at Stephen Murray memorabilia and photos throughout his BMX career. Demos will also take place in the skate park with Stay Strong BMX Team and Vans riders Bas Keep, Matt Priest, Bob Manchester, Anthony Watkinson, Lima Eltham and Joe Baddely. Tunnel three will also transform into a street market where fans can purchase the book, memorabilia and more.
