- FATBMX reached maximum bandwidth again in May. It was because the provider had not switched us to "Plan Pro" yet. We've doubled the bandwidth from 15GB/Month to 30GB/Month so the problem should be solved.

- The Euro street championships round 2 was won by Markus Wilke on his Kink bike. Segej Geier got 2nd in Oldenburg with Paddy Gross in third. Snafu pro-rider Sascha Claussen finished 4th with Felt's Ziegler in 5th, Volkan Jaeger in 6th followed by Max H., Barry Kohne, Steffen M., Steff and PB's Bas Brouwer. Overall pro purse is 999 Euro for first, 666 Euro for 2nd and 333 Euros for third place of the 3 series championships. The amateur class in Oldenburgh was won by Daniel Kuska, a flipping Felix Kirch got 2nd with Bruno Hoffman in third.
- Ryan Nyquist is not making it to this year's world's. Ryan has been on a winning streak over in the States at the Vans triple crown events and decided to ride the next Vans contest instead of the World's in Cologne. Ryan will be present at the FISE contest in France 2 weeks after the world's.
- Abandon BMX racing is setting up a Krazy 8 racing team and are looking for riders. Contact them to send your CV. Check FATBMX's guestbook for contact info and leave a message while you're out there just like Dirty Dan did.
- JPRogers and crew just finished issue #21 of Faction BMX. Find it and support it.
- The KGB Japan tour has started. On May 20th Viki Gomez and Martti Kuoppa left to do a big flatland tour in Japan with Yanmar, shows and practice sessions with locals. The tour will end at the first KOG in Nagoya. In other KGB news, Martti Kuoppa is still working on his solo DVD project. He's got 13 combo's on tape so far, more to come.
- According to Rob Harrison there were a couple of sketchy moments on the WeThePeople Italy tour but it was on the whole good, although at one point it was raining, no place to stay and no spots and then the minute the weather better everyone went crazy and got injured. Tours are the best. Expect a report up on FATBMX next week.
- To support BMX vert riding RedBull are doing a Vert sessions tour in the UK. Riders Jon Taylor and Baz Keep will be the teachers/demo riders for the tour that takes place between May and September and will visit cities such as Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Brighton. The RedBull Vert Sessions is a combined series of vert demos and workshops, held in skateparks and are open to any level of rider under the age of 20. Each visit will consist of a 2-day session hosted by the pro riders themselves. On day one a "Clinic" will teach riders everything they need to know about the discipline, whilst day 2 will see pro riders performing their biggest tricks (must include the handplant from Jon!) and wowing the crowds on the massive RedBull Kingsize II ramp in the city centers. With vert possibly being an Olympic discipline in the future, you better get ready for the big ramp.
- Peter Geys' vert opening party is shaping up. Local press (Het Belang van Limburg) have done a report on the new ramp already but the actual Peter's Passion Grand Opening will take place on Sunday June 20th. Place: Overpelt, Belgium.
- The FATBMX crew is going to England for the Soul Bowl contest. Expect a report some time in June. Sounds like a good event for some paparazzi photo's.
- Former Chase magazine editor and Ten Pack employee Ken Paul left Ten Pack about a month ago on good terms: "I just felt it was time for me to move on and do something new. Right now I'm teaching part time, some Photoshop (computer) classes at an art school here in Vancouver. The rest of my time is spent working on the computer at a print shop. Had some good times, and boy, do I ever miss that free trip to Europe every spring."
- 20velocross have updated their site with some new pics from the Pirate tour where they found some sweet obstacles. Alexis Desolneux is now riding for twenty and will be in charge of the flatland line. He's getting some signature stuff with the French company.
- Oakley's Steve Blick got engaged to his girl Jen recently. Congratulations to both of them. Oakley is coming out with a new BMX race shoe developed with the help of GT riders Thomas Allier and Brian Lopes. The Radar Lock shoe is high-tech as you would expect from the Oakley clan. The SPD shoe will be out later this year.
- SoCal's Austin Coleman has made it to the movies. He's doubling for Queen Latifa in the movie Taxi. Austin is riding in a fat suit when riding his bike doing little stunts here and there.
- Flatland pro Dane Beardsley is putting together a flatland video called FlatCrap. The video will feature sections from Brian Tunney, Jody Temple, Aaron Behnke, Anthony Durbano, (himself) Dane Beardsley, Leif Valin, and Alexis Desolneux. The video will be out in Mid-June 2004 and will be available from Harvest Natural.
- After being dropped by the Mosh team Markus Wilke has found a spot on the KINKBMX flow team. Markus has been filming a bit for the next Kink video called Cheap Thrills that is supposed to be out in the fall of 2004.
- With many riders working at S&M/FIT they know what the new generation of BMX-ers want. Morales, Bogie, Balls, Wood, Moeller and co are now making Mike Aitken a new signature FIT frame. It will have an internal headset a special Supertherm tubing which is hella light. S&M are back with a new series of magazine ads that will shock a parent or two.
- Paulo Charaba has been putting on loads of events in Brasil to keep the scene alive. Keep it up Paulo.
- David Jones (DJ) is taking the legendary King Of The Skatepark competition to a legendary skatepark in the UK (Southsea). The event will take place on 19-20 June and will involve some old school BMX freestyle action as well. The event poster shows Eddie Fiola blasting out of a huge concrete bowl with white GT wheelcovers. If that's an indication of how the event will be like, you should not miss it.
- We want people with FATBMX stickers on their bikes at the World's. It's time for a promotion campaign. Find Jos, Paul or Bart and ask for a FATBMX sticker.
- FATBMX wishes a quick recovery to Tim March who is out with 4 cracked ribs, a punctured lung and compressed vertebrae in his neck. No riding for 8 weeks for the RIDE ad sales man.
- CLICKED REWIND for the Extreme Channel. Steve Bartholomew and crew are working on a 6 part TV series for the Extreme Channel called Clicked Rewind. This Series is proudly sponsored by SoBe and the Extreme Channel. The shows will be of a simple format representing BMX in the right way. Great Riding, great music and no time wasting filler. The shows should be on air from September 2004 and will also be a DVD release in the future.
- Dave Mirra is snapping into a SlimJim for a few more years. His contract has been extended till 2007 (started in 1997). Expect some cross promotion from this deal.
- During the 5th BMX Freestyle World Championship from June, 24th, until June, 27th, in Cologne the riders and spectators will have the chance to visit a lot of additional side events just like music programs, graffiti workshops, readings and special BMX events. Find the banner on our site to get all the latest info on the world's. I've been told there will be a beer factory visit as well, including free samples.
- The Gravity Games® announces the 2004 Gravity Games® Amateur Skatepark Series, a nationwide series of more than 25 bike and skateboard competitions giving amateur athletes a chance to compete in the amateur finals at the 2004 Gravity Games. The events will begin in Orlando, FL on June 5 and run through August 20 in Cleveland, OH. Visit gravitygames.com for more information on parks that have BMX competitions.

- We have received plenty of requests for new movies on FATBMX.com. The monthly movies are not made by the FATBMX staff therefore we have to rely on the hard work and support of contributors. Dwayne Verkade of BMXigans.com (see July RIDE BMX mag) has been our main movie provider. Hopefully he'll come across with some new stuff soon now that summer is here. Fingers crossed.
- Eric over in France is doing us all a favor by putting a bunch of BMX history on the web. - Former ABA AA Pro number one Jamie Staff took on velodrome cycling to get a chance to ride at the Olympics. Things are looking good for Jamie as he just won the 2004 World Keirin Title in Melbourne and will be present in multiple classes in Athens. Good luck to the Brit and thanks for mentioning BMX is every single interview.
- David Wootten has left Tioga Bicycle Components after seven years of service. The former Tioga Global Marketing Manager has now joined the Muchachos International team. In addition to working with Muchachos, Wootten will devote his time to Greasy Comb Distribution a La Habra, California company that Wootten founded with his partner and wife Christine Lisnock. Greasy Comb is the North American importer of Stolen BMX and 414 Industries components.

- Ryan Nyquist has been dominating the VANS triple crown events over the last few years. The first 2004 event took place in Salt Lake City, a place Ryan stayed at for a few months last year. - Former BMX-er gone MTB-er gone weed grower Miles Rockwell got caught with 200G worth of plants. That's no riding for a while for the former world champ.
- Premium Product's newest team rider Ryan Mills (Las Vegas, NV) broke his foot in 3 places. He was doing 360’s out of a ditch over a sub-wall. He pulled one and looped out on a second attempt where he folded his foot underneath him. To make matters worse, he had his wisdom teeth pulled the next day. Ryan will continue testing some new Premium bars made with a special kind of tubing that makes them a half pound lighter than regular bars.
- Todd Walkowiak was invited to a Red Bull contest in Mexico recently. The contest was to be held in a huge drainage ditch, actually a sewer ditch. When they showed up the ditch was 6 feet deep in water from the previous days rain and the contest was cancelled. Tickets cold not be changed so he spent 3 days in Mexico exploring around. The ditch actually dried up and he got to do some riding. The contest is going to be rescheduled for summer.
- Girls pay attention: Have you ever gone to a skate park filled with guys and wished that you had the place all to yourself? Well, now you can! Op Girls Learn To Ride will host "Girls Night Only" at some of the best parks in the USA, including Vans Skateparks and ESPN Skate parks. Top female bmx pro riders will be teaching the clinics at these events. This is a great way to improve your skills and meet other girls who live in your area.
- OBG suffered a bum ankle and had it fixed. He'll be present at the Snickers Game On Soul Bowl in the UK at the first weekend of June.
- Simon Tabron and Rick Thorne returned from Lisbon, Portugal where they performed a demo with Tony Hawk at the "Laureus Worlds Sports Awards" hosted by John McEnroe. They did a demo at the award show plus a demo on the beach. It was televised for TV, other stars like Michael Douglas, Morgan Freedman & Rachel Hunter just to name a few were present, it was a pretty big deal honoring all sports, helping action sports expand dawg..............................
- It didn't take long for Greg Walsh to come up with a solid team for his Coalition BMX company. Sounds like more people than Joe Rich and Taj Mihelich have left the Primo team. First products available will be stems and sprockets. - Baby Boom. Ex-Skyway factory rider Maurice Meyer and his wife Lori had their little boy - Isaac Richardson Meyer. Also RIDE editor/photographer Mark Losey has become a daddy of a son named Ethan Callahan Losey. Ethan weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces. FATBMX webmaster Jos Wissink and Wendy made sure that there will be some girls on this planet and now have a daughter named Anne. Congratulations to all.
- Next to Matt Wilhelm, Biz and Pundai, the Spanish based FlyBikes company are now hooking up a bunch of people in the States through their distributor. On the flow team are: Matt Sparks, Anthony Napolitan, Tyrone Williams, Tony Neyer and Ian Schwartz.
- With DirtBros being a garage company the fact that silver medal X-Games winner Gary Young would be grabbed by a bigger player in the BMX industry was only a matter of time. DirtBros held on for a while but now the San Diego local has moved to a new team. Although strong interest came from the Hoffman Bikes camp, Gary decided to go ride for MacNeil. The Canadian Beast is stoked on his new team member.
- After the RedBull Circle Of Balance contest in Germany most of the flatland pros stayed around for the Ninja Spin flatland contest in Paris, France. Simon o'Brien (the last flatland rider to ever win the X-Games now that flatland is dropped from the event) pulled his hard tricks in the final to grab first place for Australia. Alex Jumelin, co-organizer of the Ninja Spin contest is on a roll lately and got another 2nd place. Austrian Michael Sommer got 3rd place. Another good flatland contest with a great ambiance.
