This spring a unique tour brought the vibes of Pannonian Challenge to Zagreb, Varaždin and Rijeka. Challenge Tour warmed up whole of Croatia for the jubilee edition of the best extreme sports festival. Croatia became richer for another “travelling” competition, while about 80 registered riders in all disciplines proved that extreme sports are at their peak in Croatia. Local BMX, inline and skate riders have had the opportunity to win valuable prizes through the Challenge Tour, so many of them came to Zagreb on April 13th, where, despite the gloomy weather, there was a great atmosphere in which young athletes especially showed their spirits. However, the highlight of this tour was on April 27th, when in the newly opened skate park in Varaždin, Croatian Championship in BMX freestyle disciplines was

All of them were in Osijek because this competition is something they can't miss. Even the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, found some time in her busy schedule to attend this year's edition of the Pannonian Challenge. More than 35000 visitors gathered to see some of the best riders perform.

Doing annual events for more than 15 years shows dedication. That's exactly what Pannonian Challenge is about. The 19th edition was put together by hard working enthusiasts at the permanent park at the Drava river. With full stands during the finals and temperatures around the 30 degree mark, not only the action was hot. Riders like Justin Dowell, Daniel Dhers, Jack Clark, Irek Rizaev, Marin Rantes and Michael Beran made sure the riding was on point and with Catfish on the mic it soon became a party. The President of Croatia even came over to the skatepark to see the action and as every time, the intentions are to make the event bigger and better. The 20th edition should be on your calendar already because the atmosphere around the entire event is just top notch. With parties happening in the old town on a daily basis even the entourage will find a way to have a good time.
Let's focus on the BMX Park contest here where 33 riders signed up to do a 2-run qualification round followed by a 16-men final. It's amazing to see how the level of riding is going up all the time. With the big park available we saw a bit of street riding combined with park riding by some but most focused on the park section which had a new super wide jump box that was well liked. With the Best Run counts format we saw the riders go for all their bangers. With 60 second runs there was plenty of time to show it all. Things heated up when Michael Beran and Daniel Dhers raised the bar. Justin Dowell took his first run as a scratch but came back with the Twix and more to score 5th place with run 2.

After the big finale in the skatepark, visitors of the 19th edition of Pannonian Challenge moved to Vega for an evening programme. Urban & 4 welcomed the crowd and provided them with a good time. M.O.R.T. took over the stage and with a light blues rhythm amused the audience. People danced until the early in the morning with Dj Flegma who was the last one to perform. This year our festival as one of the best ones in Europe will provide the prize of 13 000€ to the best BMX riders. The money is definitely a big motivation for our riders today, but the best motivation is of course the audience which is impatient to see them perform. This year we will get the chance to see only the best riders, such as: FISE world winer Daniel Dhers, young Marin Ranteš from Varaždin, Kostya Andreev, Irek Rizaev, Jack Clark, Michael Berran and many other big names in this extreme sport. Our judges Bart de Jong, Hank Cleworth and Luka Kovač will decide who was the best rider today. Big finale in pro BMX category starts at 6 p.m!
With future Olympians and world famous riders this year on Pannonian we will have the Championship of Croatia in BMX freestyle category. Championship will be a part of BMX amateur and BMX pro competition. Judges will give the points to the best ones, and after the competition we will pronounce
For nearly two decades, eastern Croatia is the true European center for extreme sports, and all of that is due to Pannonian Challenge festival, which, along with the adrenaline stunts of the world’s top BMX, INLINE and SKATE riders, also offers an excellent complement of urban culture. Each year skate park in Osijek becomes home for over 300 top athletes, whose three-day spectacle sees over 20,000 enthusiastic visitors from all over the region. Although many are already accustomed to summer editions of Pannonian Challenge, a somewhat earlier date for this year’s competition will certainly fit into the plans of extreme sport fans even better –regardless of their holidays, academic obligations, hellish heat and annoying mosquitos. In other words, from May 30th till June 2nd, extreme

With the Olympic news being announced the day before the contest, the riders were stoked to ride Pannonian Challenge in Osijek, Croatia. With 2016 UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup champion Logan Martin on the starters list, the grandstands packed up quickly. In sunny weather the finals kicked off at 18:00hr sharp on a course that was used for a UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup last year. For those who could not make it we had the live feed up on FATBMX so by now you've probably seen the tricks and know that Logan Martin won the €2600 check for first place while most of his fellow top Park riders were fighting over 6 X-Games spots in Boise, USA at the same time. Logan is pre-qualified for that one so he could fly to Croatia to ride the comp. Local Marin Rantes was fit enough to ride after his hand injury from two weeks ago in Montpellier. He had to skip riding the Pro Freestyle comp but made the trip to the Pannonian Challenge (18th edition!) to give it a shot. Once his bike showed up (2 days late) he gave it a shot and crashed in practice injuring his knee. But when the stands pack up and the biggest contest of the year in your own country is about to start, you can bite through the pain. Marin did great and had the crowd behind him. He even made Logan Martin step it up for his second and last run to secure the win. Marin got second and was well stoked on that. Erik Figar (CZE) has a killer second run and stepped on the podium in Osijek together with two of his heroes. Unfortunately Michael Beran (CZE) was too hurt to ride but some talent is coming out of Slovenia in the name of Matej Zan who has incredible bike control, style and does his tricks with good amplitude. David Janac from the Czech Republic completed the top 5 at the 2017 edition of the Pannonian Challenge.
