Best known as the ‘Super Bowl of Flatland BMX’, Red Bull Circle of Balance returned for the fifth iteration of the event after a 10-year hiatus. The global roster of athletes took their talents to the floor at New Orleans’ iconic Mardi Gras World; a venue as artistic and eclectic as the sport itself. Sixteen hand-selected athletes from nine countries went head-to-head in the bracket-style competition as viewers around the world tuned in live on Red Bull TV.
Flatland BMX is best described as break dancing on a bike. Athletes control their bikes with their bodies in a dance-like rhythm of spins and twists. Over 500 spectators lined the competition floor and surrounding stands as riders battled it out in one heated round after the next.
The Dutch BMX Park National Championships were squeezed in at the end of 2022 to continue the streak of having national champions for history's sake. going into the comp the level of thr riders was close. It made for a good battle to even make the final. The riders that entered ride in Eindhoven a lot. They ride together to progress together, but on 17 December 2022 the judges had to decide who was actually the best of them all. Daniel Wedemeijer has been struggling with a shoulder injury but wanted to enter anyway as he had been setting up the Dutch Championships himself. His first qualification run gave him a score of 71 but he didn't manage to step it up in run two and was eliminated. Jari Roggerveen scored a 71 in run number two where he pulled the fakie roll to front flip at the end of his run. Jari blasted through the park in Jari style with a smile on his face and pleasing the crowd. An average score of both runs of 74,33 helped Pim Scheers transfer to the finals just behind Arjan Ellens (76,83), a recovered Levi Weidmann (77,67) and Tom van den Bogaard (82,67). The 4-men final was going to be a good one.
Pim Scheers turned it up a notch in order to grab third place at the 2022 Dutch Park championships. He added a flairwhip to his run that was already packed with seatgrab indians, whips on the hip, front flips, no-footed cancans and as a bonus he nailed a triple tailwhip on the step-up in his 2nd run. Arjan Ellens was the only one to start off scoring points by bomb dropping from the wall into the quarter. Everyone likes to see stunts and Arjan brought them. Double barspin transfers, no-footed cancan one-footers,

- American riders performed larger than life tricks, European athletes brought style and steeze, and Japanese participants demonstrated technical precision in the ultimate showcase of sport.
The season came to an end at the Gold Coast. Home base of Logan Martin who put home advantage to good use as he had the last run of the day and some hammer runs were just pulled right in front of him. The Aussie made it work and scored the overall UCI World Cup title at the same time after three stops this year. 2023 should see a 6-stop Park season with venues all over the world from Saudi Arabia, to Belgium to France to...... Get on it. Join the fun. Here's the 2022 standings. Make sure you get on the list next year.

It was a great way to end the year but it won't be long before we're back at it. Find the results of the last stop below.

The standings going into the last round of the 2022 UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup for Women Park was close. Chinese athletes left a strong impression at the last stop in Australia and are showing they mean business in the years to come. In the end it was Hannah Roberts who scored most points overall for the season to become the 2022 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup Park champion. Second went to Nikita Ducarroz (SUI) and third place overall was for Charlotte Worthington who had to sit out the last World Cup final after a warm-up crash left her sidelined. Question of the day was if the Chinese ladies will continue to improve on their level. If they do, the 2023 UCI BMX Freestyle Park overall ranking will look a whole lot different. The challenge is on, and that's a good thing. Progression needs to be made. Riding needs to be pushed. There is never a stale moment in BMX Freestyle.

What a surprise on today's Women Park podium at the Gold Coast. The top two spots going to CHINA and deservingly so. Hannah Roberts grabs third after yesterday's bail made it unsure if she would actually ride today. She did, got third and that didn't hurt her 2022 overall UCI World Cup position either. Results on the final standings to follow.

The UCI BMX Freestyle park World Cup season ends in Australia. It has been a battle between Anthony Jeanjean and Logan Martin all year long. With Jeanjean getting home advantage in Montpellier France, it is now Logan Martin's turn to use the Gold Coast surroundings in his favour for the last stop. Both did well in Montpellier and Brussels and their ranking points indicate 1820 for Jeanjean and 1800 for Martin at the moment. During qualification neither one of the top park riders made a mistake and a 1-2 finish was the results with Logan coming on top. The event continued on Saturday with the semi finals where 12 of the 24 riders were sent to the showers. Logan and Anthony are still in getting out of the semi finals in 1st (Logan) and 3rd (Jeanjean) giving the Aussie the opportunity to watch the Frenchy's runs before dropping in. With two runs of which the best run counts, expect the battle to be on. In Abu Dhabi at the recent UCI BMX Freestyle World Championships Logan Martin got a flat tire during qualification. Something like that could just happen at the Gold Coast as well but both team France and team Australia are ready to minimize bad luck and get the riders ready so they can perform at their best at the final round of the season. 2022 UCI BMX Park World Champion made it to the finals in 2nd place and is ready to mix it up with the two title favourites on Sunday. We will see what happens but make sure to keep checking in for the outcome.
