Becky, Marketing co-ordinator over at Hotwheels sent me an E-mail to inform me about their latest team rider trip to Scandinavia. Together with the pics it makes for a good tour report for FATBMX. Read on what Becky and the boys experienced on their trip up North. I just wanted to let you know that the Hot Wheels roooooadtrip went real well and we returned from Scandinavia last week! We visited Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden, Oslo in Norway and Copenhagen in Denmark - it was amazing! I really didn't know what to expect, all I wanted was for the guys to have fun, get to ride some different places, sample the local night life, meet new people and friends! and on top of all that I wished for good weather!! I guess that is actually quite a lot to ask for when visiting new countries, you can never be sure the way things will work.

ROOTS JAM ORLANDO FLORIDA 2004 “Going back to the ROOTSâ€? was decided a minute after last years Roots jam, this is gonna be in my schedule every April from now on. Florida is not the worst place to travel to in April, nice weather, good nightlife, friendly people and what more. Over 160 amateurs thought that too and with lots of flatlanders and Pro’s it made this one of the biggest comps in the USA.

- The European BMX Street championship series have come to an end. Paddy Gross and Markus Wilke both won the overall title. Barry Kohne finished 2nd for Holland and Mark Koenig and Sascha Claussen tied for third. Find pics of round one (Heerlen) and two (Oldenburg) on FATBMX's freestyle section this month. At the 1994 World's in Cologne the Bro Hymn song by Epitaph got played over and over again. It became the song of the contest and until this day I think about Pro-mini with Miron and Bender on the spine whenever I hear that song. Fast forward a few years and Pennywise are touring Europe with the Warped tour. John Peacy and Rick Thorne were doing shows as well and Rick totally hooked us up with free lunch, a round in the tour bus, some ice cold Nescafe coffee drinks and last but not least we all made it on the stage when Pennywise was playing.

TS5 is the latest issue of the Trick Stars series, edited and produced by Marton Szilagyi. Aka OG, Marton was the pioneer of flatland (come to that fs bmx) in Hungary, he has plenty of experience in all parts of the flat-world, and of course is the boss of the OG-crew, quote: “Our intention is to show the stress-free side of flatland with riders filmed without the pressure of contests. Huge props to the riders.� Self Realization came out last year, but the riding is still well up to date. This flatland-only video has crisp editing, good music and of course outstanding riding. Sections are smooth, thanks to the good choice of music to go with the riders. 40 minutes of footage comes from a variety of locations: Heros Square (Budapest), Red Bull Circle of Balance 02, Braun Flatground, Worlds.

Boekel is only 10 miles from here. In the past we used to ride our bikes that distance to ride all day with someone who lived up there and then ride our BMX bike back home. Times have changed and we threw 3 bikes in the back of the Vito on a Sunday evening to ride the Boekel trails.

Travis is a likeable guy. I don’t think he has many enemies. He looks at life from the bright side and is enjoying the ride at the moment traveling around with his BMX bike knowing that in years to come it might not be the same. Travis was invited for the RedBull Circle Of Balance contest in Oberhausen where we caught up with him. He just came off a pro flatland win in Birmingham England at the BIKE 04 event. The money won there will help him on his 3 month stay in Europe before he’s going to Melbourne, Australia to stay there with his lady for another three months. BMX for Travis is not about the big bucks. Meeting people, hanging out with friends and discover new places is more like it for the Canadian. More on Travis right here:

This is the second time I start typing up the Bike 04 race report. I lost the text after the "Control-Z" shortcut messed me up. I'm not sure if it's worth it or how many people will read this but I decided to get you a little inside on the pros preparation for the BMX race. The Hilton hotel bar was open 24 hours. With most BMX-ers hanging out there it was a good time. Racers stayed up late. 5am anyone?

The more I get involved in the MX scene the more often I come across on how many riders actually ride BMX. The Flockart brothers live 5 minutes away from the Sowerby's in Scotland and ride the Livingston skatepark every now and then. Stefan Everts has been looking into getting his own skatepark, Josh Coppins is sponsored by Stolen Bikes and factory Suzuki riders Kevin Strijbos and Joel Smets can be found messing around on the BMX track in Dessel, Belgium once in a while.
